What is the relationship between scoliosis and a tight tongue tie?

As far as is known, there is no direct connection. The relationship lies more in the movement of the hyoid bone (os hyoid) and the surrounding muscles.
Many muscles are attached to this bone structure, including those that create traction in scoliosis. This can exacerbate a “curvature” like in scoliosis.
It is important that the infra- and suprahyoid muscles can move freely during swallowing. This means having a good baseline tongue position and more opportunities to achieve a proper tongue lift to the palate.
If a tongue tie is tight, it is also possible that the muscles and tissues around it still have tension (especially around the hyoid bone).
It may be beneficial to work with a physiotherapist, manual therapist, etc., to ensure that the surrounding muscles and tissues are made more flexible so that they compensate less for the movements the body can or cannot make.
This can be done before and after treatment, as it is not only about a tongue tie but the entire oral cavity and the body as a whole.
