What is the Tongue Guide and is it a useful tool for aftercare exercises following a treatment?
The Tongue Guide can be beneficial as it helps the patient perform stretching exercises without directly touching the wound. This can be particularly helpful for parents who are hesitant to make contact with the wound themselves. However, it does come with additional costs for the patient, which is why we do not provide it as a standard tool.
Furthermore, the Tongue Guide lacks the tactile feedback you get when performing the exercises manually. With manual stretching, you can better feel what is happening with the surrounding muscles and tissues, which is important for keeping the area flexible. The goal of the exercises is to maintain mobility in the entire area, including the fascia, and this is often more effectively achieved through hands-on methods.
